The objective of this collective monograph is to provide specialists with a number of perspectives on life in old age. We have endeavoured to characterise and compare the lifestyle of various groups of senior citizens using a number of examples. The first study ascertains what components of a healthy lifestyle people observe most frequently and least frequently according to respondents - i.e. their approach to these different components. We also wanted to determine whether there was a relationship between their own observance of a healthy lifestyle and the assessment of others in the same area. The second study analyses the lifestyle of contemporary senior citizens in terms of their relationship to wellness activities in general and physical exercise activities in particular. The third study gives a comparison of the quality of life of elderly athletes and senior citizens who do no sport. The fourth study provides a comparison of the lifestyle of elderly rowers and the general senior citizen population. The submitted monograph thus opens up debate on a selected current issue, e.g. on the influence of physical exercise activities on senior citizens' quality of life and health.
