The research in this book aimed at investigating the chemical, qualitative and quantitative composition of raw iron ore from the deposits in Katse area, Mwingi North Constituency in Kitui County, Kenya. The results obtained indicates that Katse iron ores are of a high-grade magnetite and low hematite ore that can be profitably exploited for the production of iron. With other deposits from other parts of the country it can lead to setting up of steel plant in Kenya. This research work was made possible with funding from the National Council for Science and Technology (NACOSTI) Kenya. Lots of gratitude goes to the Ministry of Mining and GDC Co. Ltd for their assistance and allowing me to perform these experiments in their laboratories and not to forget the entire Moi University fraternity for their support and contribution in my research.
