L'autrice ha conseguito una laurea in Scienze dell'Educazione (Inglese e Letteratura). È stata insegnante di inglese per oltre 15 anni presso la Teachers' Service Commission, in Kenya. Ha conseguito un master in Scienze dell'Educazione (Amministrazione e Gestione dell'Educazione) presso la Kenyatta University e un dottorato in Scienze dell'Educazione presso la North-Eastern Hill University, in India.
