This study was carried out with the objective of analyzing the importance of sustainable tourism development in the province of Utcubamba in the department of Amazonas, Peru. The methodology was based on a holistic syntagma with a mixed approach. Forty tourists who visited the province participated in the sample. For the quantitative analysis, a survey was conducted among tourists between eighteen and fifty years of age. The results were presented in a Pareto diagram, showing three critical problems: the first problem was insufficient official tourist guides specialized in tourist activities in the area; the second problem was dissatisfaction on the part of the visitors due to the little tourist information they received; and finally, the third problem was that the establishments which are part of the tourist market in the province offer a deficient quality of service to the tourists.
