Steel is an economical, flexible, fully recyclable and widely available construction material. The primary quality of steel, namely its ability to maintain physical and mechanical strength or, in the case of steel structures, its load-bearing capacity, is generally preserved for a long time. It only decreases if corrosion causes cross-sectional reductions that are detrimental to safety. The service life of structures depends on the speed of reactions between the steel and its environment. These reactions depend, moreover, on the nature and the concentration of the corrosive components. In this sense, this work consists in the anticorrosion protection of steel structures and must be taken as an intervention on this process in order to prevent the corrosion reaction and to strongly reduce the speed.
