Jane Austen grew up in a highly educated family, her father was an Oxford-Educated clergyman and her mother compress an entertaining, aristocratic woman. Jane Austen freely had access to her father¿s library, and read more than 500 books, which left her better education than most of the girls of the time. She preferred reading, like most others in her family, who were ¿great novel-readers and not ashamed of being sö (Austen, Le Faye Letter 14), and it did not take long before she took up writing as well.
