Immerse yourself in the struggle against the five pillars of infamy that have shaped what we know as the Black Legend. From its origin to the accusations of genocide and spoliation in America, this book meticulously dismantles the myths that have obscured part of Spain's history. Over the years, numerous works have contributed to perpetuate the negative narrative against the Spanish Empire. This book presents in a schematic and concise manner the fundamentals necessary to understand the falsity of many of the accusations, and provides the reader with truthful and solid arguments. In addition to exploring the five essential areas (its origin, the political attack against the Spanish Habsburgs, the lies about the Inquisition, the accusations of useless people and without scientific value made against the Spanish, and the imputation of genocide and spoliation to the action of Spain in its American provinces), it includes chapters that present the opinions of contemporary historians and reflections on the idea of Hispanidad and the Spain of the two shores. While the main focus is on 16th and 17th century Spain, references to later periods are offered, illustrating the importance of a Spain that, despite its mistakes, was a global power until the 19th century. Anatomy of the Black Legend is an invitation to challenge some of the established lies and to embrace a fair and balanced view of Spanish and world history.
