Anatomical features of the upper jaw are directly related to the prosthetic method of choice. The development of modern technologies can facilitate many of the stages of prosthetic treatment, but cannot replace anatomical conditioning. In the cases of complete edentulism, there are only two treatment options - complete dentures fabrication and a fixed or movable prosthesis after the implant placement. The bone implantation shapes and provides a sufficient volume for a successful outcome of treatment that can be applied in the case of fixed prosthesis.

A Dra. Dobromira Shopova-Karatsanova formou-se em Medicina Dentária na Faculdade de Medicina Dentária, Plovdiv em 2006. Desde 2007 até agora é professora assistente no Departamento de Odontologia Protética, colocada na mesma Faculdade. Em 2012, licenciou-se como especialista em Dentisteria Protética.
