Japanese class assistant in AFS year, 1998 triggered interest in Japanese language teaching. Received Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language in UK, 2005. M.A. in Japanese from Portland State University in USA, 2010. Studied Japanese culture and literature under Dr. Kominz-M.A. thesis analyzes Mishima's play, "Rokumeikan."
