The ancestry of Jill Jacobs Biden, the wife of the 46th President, Joseph R. Biden, is complicated and lengthy. Only 25 generations could be represented here, but the family tree, listed on Ancestry.com contains more than 100 generations and goes back to such places as England, Wales, Scotland, France, Norway, and Italy. The lines in Wales lead back to Anna of Arimathea, a relative of Jesus Christ, and extends back to Methuselah. The lines in Italy, carry through the Roman imperators and Emperors, all the way to Troy. Although the first 10 generations can be well documented, once past the availability of vital records, probates and land records must be relied on. When those die out, records of the Norman Conquest and Heraldry records and long-ago written histories by ancient historians, yield the best information. Still, they cannot be verified due to the lack of original documentation. Some tales are true, while others lend towards legend. Regardless, Jill Jacob's ancestry is truly unique and represents the best of the pioneering spirit of her family who settled in both New Jersey and New York. One of them was the Captain of the Sea Venture, the 3rd supply ship to the Jamestown Colony which floundered on the Bermuda Shoals and was the inspiration for Shakespeare's "The Tempest." Enjoy this book, use it for a guide for further research, and always remember that "They Were, So That We Could Become."
