Where does time hide? How can we nudge it aside, yet, confront its murky presence? Can we ever really "find" time? Without a doubt. Where does time hide? How can we nudge it aside, yet, confront its murky presence? Can we ever really "find" time? Without a doubt. Probing experience and knowledge through the hypnotic lens of time, Hickman's first book of poetry penetrates the haziness of existence. Within this web like dimension, humanity is a story of inevitable sameness, yet, as careworn individuals, we yearn to transcend the confines of time: to peer beyond linear thinking, to glimpse inner peace, and to see more than the finite lines of mortality. Ancients of the Earth literally sings with clarity and conviction. Written in six parts, Hickman's collection probes the tensions and complexities of the human condition via poems that capture a persistent wondering, and that invite readers to explore the powerful dictates of time anew. Illuminating, memorable, discerning.
Autorenporträt
D.A. Hickman, author and poet, is the 2010 founder of SunnyRoomStudio--a creative, sunny space for kindred spirits. Hickman holds a master's in sociology from Iowa State University, and earned her bachelor's in legal studies at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. A member of the Academy of American Poets, the author is at work on a poetry collection and a new nonfiction title. Hickman is also a spiritual thinker. As she wrote in her 2014 nonfiction release, Always Returning: The Wisdom of Place (the second edition of Hickman's first book) ... "Insights we call wisdom must be learned repeatedly: each time, at a deeper, more profound, level." Hickman's memoir, THE SILENCE OF MORNING (Capturing Morning Press, 2015), speaks to loss and grief, but to other societal issues as well. She examines our contemporary culture, its addictive tendencies, and the troubling implications that follow. The spiritual component is a major theme in the book, as well. The author notes that she will always be looking for the deeper story and the universal message to derive a better understanding of the human condition: a path with less suffering, greater awareness.
