The verse 50 of the chapter 53 (i.e., surah an-Najm) of the Holy Qur'an says: "And that He is the Lord of Sirius" (chapter 53, verse 50). The universal message, revealed in this verse has not been addressed explicitly and comprehensively until now. To fill this gap, a review of literature related to the verse 50 of the chapter 53 (i.e., surah an-Najm) of the Holy Qur'an deemed necessary. The scientific, historical and Islamic literature was explored to find the answer to the question: Why the only star al-shi'rá (i.e., Sirius) is mentioned with its name in the verse 50 of the chapter 53 (i.e., surah an-Najm) of the Holy Qur'an. Furthermore, the universality of the revealed message in the verse 50 of the chapter 53 (i.e., surah an-Najm) of the Holy Qur'an was assessed in the Islamic literature.
