Erik Hartmann wurde 1983 in Dortmund geboren und wuchs in einer kleinen, unauffälligen Stadt in Nordrhein-Westfalen auf. Schon früh entdeckte er seine Leidenschaft für düstere Erzählungen und spannende, unergründliche Geschichten, die er oft in Form von Notizen und Kurzgeschichten festhielt.Nach dem Abitur zog es ihn in die Großstadt, wo er verschiedene Jobs in der Gastronomie und im Sicherheitsbereich annahm, um sich finanziell über Wasser zu halten. In dieser Zeit begann er, intensiv zu schreiben, wobei er sich nie in literarischen Kreisen bewegte oder ein traditionelles Studium verfolgte. Stattdessen zog er Inspiration aus den Gesprächen mit Menschen, den düsteren Ecken der Stadt und den Beobachtungen des menschlichen Verhaltens, die er in seinem Job als Sicherheitskraft sammelte.
