Warhol's laconic imagery has become a hallmark of the Golden Sixties. No other artist since Duchamp had so radically examined the structures of representation. The artist celebrated what Benjamin Buchloh described as the "semantic decline" of the visual sign, and in doing so created some of the most compelling and significant icons of our era. This publication accompanied the exhibiton held in Lucerne from the 9th of July to the 24th of September 1995. It includes some 52 rarely seen silkscreen prints from private Swiss and European collections, including the 1986 "Camouflage Last Supper" one of the artist's last masterpieces.
