Pre-eclampsia is a disease that occurs during pregnancy or in the post partum period. It is one of the leading causes of maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity in developing countries.The diagnosis of pre-eclampsia requires the presence of gravid hypertension associated with proteinuria (>0.3g/24H). Severe pre-eclampsia is defined according to well-defined clinical and biological criteria.Pregnancies complicated by severe pre-eclampsia are associated with particularly high perinatal morbidity and mortality. The management of this condition is a challenge for every anesthesiologist.
