Women have a different reproductive system than men. Therefore, when they are pregnant or have a pathology of their reproductive system, they go to the maternity ward. The maternity ward is a service that combines gynecology and obstetrics. Gynecology is defined as the science that studies the woman's body and her reproductive system on the morphological, physiological and pathological levels. As for obstetrics, it is considered as a part of gynecology that studies the genital function of the woman in her period of gravidic activity. For the doctor, an emergency is a serious pathological situation that could jeopardize the vital or functional prognosis if it is not treated as soon as possible. For the patient, on the other hand, any new or unusual pathological situation is an emergency that justifies a call from the doctor or transportation to a health care facility.
