Perception towards the safety is an important aspect in shaping the image of a destination. The negative perception can destroy a tourist destination. There are many studies of the perception has been conducted in urban areas, tourist areas such as national parks, beaches and islands, but only a small number are carried out in the middle of the sea, like fishing kelong. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of anglers perception of the two fishing kelong in Selangor, Malaysia. The first kelong is a state-owned kelong; Kelong Paradise in Bagan Nakhoda Omar, Sabak Bernam, Malaysia, while the second kelong is a privately owned kelong; Kelong Purple Inn, Telok Gong, Klang, Malaysia. Through the results generated, the researcher tried to assess lack of safety on two kelongs that affect safety perceptions of anglers. Safety aspects of the review covers three main activities; perception when using kelong jetty facilities, the boat ride to the kelongs and when the fishing activities onthe kelongs.
