This paper shows that there are many more Anglicisms
in the Albanian language than it has been
traditionally believed by most Albanian linguists,
that Anglicisms began to be used in Albania earlier
than it has been hitherto assumed, since the 1920s,
and that they constitute a considerable body of
words in current use in the Albanian language; it
considers a number of sources.

Technical School of Harry Fultz in the 1920s, funded
by the American Red Cross; four dictionaries: A
Dictionary of European Anglicisms by Manfred Görlach
(2001), the 1980 and the 2002 editions of the
Albanian Dictionary, Fjalor i Fjalëve të Huaja
(1986) by Mikel Ndreca; a three-month collection of
the newspaper Gazeta Shqiptare and three
questionnaires provide the material of the empirical
