Autorenporträt
Wolfgang Fischer (Jahrgang 1949) ist promovierter Diplom-Biologe und hat in Leipzig und Magdeburg studiert. Neben seiner langjährigen Tätigkeit am Institut für Pharmakologie und Toxikologie (Universität Leipzig) mit zahlreichen wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen, konnte er sich die Begeisterung für sein Studienfach Zoologie bewahren. Nach erlebnisreichen Pirschfahrten in zwei Wildreservaten Südafrikas 2017 entstand die Idee, ein unterhaltsames, fundiertes und illustratives Buch über die faszinierenden Giganten der afrikanischen Fauna zu schreiben. Ziel des vorliegenden Bildbandes ist es, nicht nur Neugier und Interesse des Lesers zu wecken, sondern auch mehr Verständnis für den dringenden Schutz dieser einzigartigen, vom Aussterben bedrohten Tierwelt.
