Anna: Collected Writings of a Russian Prostitute in Korea is a work of fiction, but is written in a form which could immediately relate to life. A collection of letters, diary-pages, scribbles, etc. Anna's hopeful vision of the future and of Russia is explored in her correspondence with Olga, who also lives in Russia, leading to an understanding of their economic predicament. They decide to work abroad, Anna in Korea and Olga in America. But what lies ahead for them is deception, fraud and even violence. Anna writes letters and keeps a diary, at first she writes about the feeling of refreshment and attachment as she begins a new life in Korea. However, one incident after another in Korea leads to problems and she feels suffocation and demoralised, until Anna (together with Olga in America) becomes entangled in tragic violence.
