In such a context, the maternal grandmother's peculiarity is that of cooperating, even more than other grandparents, to the psychic and affective integration of the grandchild, through her presence and her educa-tional and caring practices (which are renewed or de-structured from mother to mother) as well as through her family tales and narrations, which, when grandchildren become adults, will form the cherished memories of the "birth home".
