As an infant, mandatory and the only formal market that facilitates the trading of agricultural commodities worth billions of dollars, Electronic Trading in Ethiopia Commodity Exchange faced/still faces various Anticompetitive Acts that are not clearly or indirectly addressed by the 2014 Ethiopian Competition and Consumer Protection Proclamation. Unfortunately, this proclamation seemingly confused the idea of competition law and intellectual property rights (unfair competition). The anticompetitive trading practices are significantly challenging traders and ECX and this is posing questions on ECX¿s trading system its ability to facilitate fair and competitive trade. This book investigates significant competition-related challenges faced by ECX and investigates whether the ¿Unfair Competition¿ rules under the competition and consumer protection regime are the best means to tackle Anticompetitive Unilateral Acts observed in ECX¿s Electronic Trading System, or not. Furthermore, the book examines the jurisprudential development of intellectual property rights (particularly ¿unfair competition¿) vis-à-vis proper competition rules that aimed at solving competition problems.
