In recent times, there has been the challenge in controlling biofilms formed in pipes and other water carrying systems and the petroleum industry has had its fair share of this problem. Researches have been carried out to find out the most suitable as well as cost effective means of curbing this challenges which averagely leads to a great loss annually in the petroleum industry. This book is focused on the use of natural compounds extracted from Nypa palm and mushroom to reduce the growth of biofilms in water systems. The effects of both extracts was also analysed so as to deduce which extract is more potent as both already have the capacity to inhibit the growth of biofilm forming microorganisms and in turn reduce the formation of biofilms.
