Antimicrobial Activity of Nanoparticles: Applications in Wound Healing and Infection Treatment presents the state of the art among nanotechnological approaches used in the treatment of infections. This field has gained a large amount of interest over the past few years, in response to the increasing resistance of pathogens to antibiotics. Leading researchers from around the world discuss the synthesis routes of nanobiomaterials, characterization, and their applications as antimicrobial agents. The book covers various aspects: from antiviral and antibacterial nanoparticles, to the functionalization of nanoparticles and their toxicity to human cells.

This book offers an advanced reference text for biomedical engineers, materials scientists, clinicians, and biochemists, with an interest in nanomedicine and infection control.

Autorenporträt
Dr. Guisbiers is a condensed matter physicist, currently tenure-track faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is active in nanophysics - studying size, shape and composition effects on materials properties. Theoretically, he is interested in quantum/nano -thermodynamics; and experimentally, he is synthesizing new quantum/nano-materials by Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquids (PLAL). His goal is to make an impact in quantum electronics, nano-metallurgy and nano-medicine. Dr. Guisbiers has secured research grants as PI or Co-PI from federal and industrial sources. His research has been featured in Physics World and MRS Bulletin. He is Editorial Board Member of three international journals and consultant for several governmental agencies. He also pursues industrial valorization for his research through intellectual property efforts.
