Osbeckia crinita grows wild on a wide range of soils, and it is an evergreen shrub. It grows wild in the State of Meghalaya and also Assam. It is an erect, free flowering shrub that grows to a height of about 3 meters. The plant is branched, and has reddish stems that are covered with bristly scales and minute hairs. Its leaves are simple, elliptic lanceolate with a rounded base, are up to 7cm long. Its flowers are arranged in around 1-5 flowered clusters. The flower shows 5 purple, curved anthers, and 5 yellow anthers. There are claims that it has a number of medicinal benefits right from being an anti-diarrhoeic to anti-microbial activity, wound healing activity and toothache.
