In recent years there has been an upsurge in interest in areas related to developments in prevention of diseases ¿ especially the role of ¿free radicals¿ and ¿antioxidants¿. So it will be pertinent to examine the possible role of free radicals in disease and antioxidants in its prevention. The findings of this study imply that the free radical-scavenging effect of plants is due to the amount of phenols and flavonoids present in their parts; it may also be correlated with some other phytochemicals which need to be explored.
