José Emilio Pacheco was a Mexican writer belonging to the so-called "generation of half a century". He dedicated his long literary career to poetry, criticism, essay, narrative, and translation. Among his most representative works are Encuentran Morirás lejos, Las batallas en el desierto, El principio del placer and El reposo del fuego.
