This work analyzes, in the light of the theoretical framework of the French Discourse Analysis, some writings of Antonieta de Barros, published in the main newspapers of Florianópolis, in different historical moments, between 1900 and 1950. For the analysis of these writings, it was necessary to know other texts that complement and concur in the production of meanings. In them, the constitutive historicity of the journalistic and political discourse is present; the form of construction of the legitimacy of the vote and the repercussion, in the newspapers of Florianópolis, of the decree of 1932, which enabled, in an optional way, the women to vote; the form of circulation of the image of the woman in the periodicals of Florianópolis and how she represented herself and was represented in this imaginary; the political ascension of Antonieta de Barros and her mobilization for the valorization of the woman. Relating the journalistic discourse with the interdiscourse, this work analyzes the expressions "at the margin" and "rags", showing the strategies of Antonieta de Barros to dodge the interpretative gestures, already marked and stabilized, while she elaborated other meanings, from her place, to legitimize her saying.
