Ruth McCoy is the pen name of Linda McCoy Cromartie. Growing up in Mississippi, she left tostudy English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since graduation in 1973, shehas lived in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, another stint in Chapel Hill, Athens GA, andback again in North Carolina-this time in the small mountain town of Franklin NC. The richhistory, legends, and natural environment of the high valley town and its surrounding mountainscontinually inspire her writing.
