The content of Apples of Gold draws from forty years of active Christian life and service. The author passionately believes that the follower of Jesus must be a 'doer of the word and not a hearer only' if they are to experience a truly fulfilling and effective spiritual life. He argues that if that's how Jesus 'worked' with his disciples then - with astonishing results, why should it be any different now?
