Digital image processing is an important research area. The techniques developed in this area so far require to be summarized in an appropriate way. In this book, the fundamental theories of these techniques will be presented. Particularly, their applications will include; image registration, image enhancement, image restoration, image segmentation, image compression, and some other important applications. The entire book consists of eight chapters; which will be subsequently described below:Chapter-1: The image processing toolbox using Matlab is described. Chapter-2: Reviews the historical view and some initial applications. Chapter-3: the fundamental of digital image processing is discussed in this chapter. Chapter-4: will be devoted to study the image enhancement techniques. Chapter-5: will be interested in studying image restoration techniques. Chapter-6: will include image segmentation techniques. Chapter-7: Digital image compression may be lossy or lossless. Chapter-8: Biometric recognition refers to the use of distinctive anatomical and behavioral characteristics or identifiers for automatically recognizing a person.
