The plasticulture engineering and technology is a very important aspect for research scientists and farming communities. It has wide applications in farming to health chain of food system and helps to improve the yield, quality, shelf life & safety of farm produce. It helps to control/modify micro climate (soil & air temperature, light intensity & quality, relative humidity, CO2 concentration etc.) during cultivation and improves productivity and quality of farm produce. It has very wide application in enhancing the shelf life & safety of fresh/cut farm produce and processed food product. Here a systematic approach is discussed briefly so that one can acquaint with various plasticulture technologies involved in pre-harvest management (water harvesting, nursery raising, plastic low tunnel, drip irrigation, plastic mulching, fertigation, temporary shade net structure, insect proof net house, multi purpose greenhouse, detachable roof green house, medium cost greenhouse) and post harvest management (multi purpose greenhouse, shrink wrapping technology, tent type ripening chamber).
