Precision Agriculture is an information based and technology driven smart agriculture system which help to develop the crop productivity in a sustainable way. Precisely monitoring of each steps ensure maximum production with minimized environmental impact. In Precision Agriculture, the farmers monitor and analyze the values of the field parameters in real time by using the WSN technology with the help of a varied range of sensors. This information further helps in making the exact judgment for controlling the resource allocation. This survey paper explores different existing methods, communication technologies and protocols related to sensor based data collection, monitoring and control system. It also reviews the application of WSN in Precision Agriculture environment and successfully points out the future scope of the work in this domain.
