The legend of Ayurveda, Acharya Sushruta (2000 B.C.), known as father of ancient surgery, made a pioneer text of surgery in which he described many surgical instruments, surgical conditions and surgical processes in the form of Sanskrit sutras. In his book Sushruta Samhita he told that because of quick action and the result, surgery is the supreme branch of medical science. In our pioneer surgery textbook Sushruta Samhita, there are various use of shastra in Ashtavidha Shastra karma. Acharya Sushruta has indicated types of incisions according to region for Chedan karma and also clearly described the reason behind it. With general view, the surgical incisions in modern surgery are usually seen as same or derived from our ancient Ayurvedic Chedan karma as described in Sushruta Samhita.
