The book contains a review of the literature on a broad understanding of sport. The formulated definition of sport in the narrow sense as a competitive activity proper does not, of course, exhaust its entire essence as a multifaceted social phenomenon organically included in a ramified system of interpersonal, intercollective and global inter-human relations. In a broad sense (but not over-extended) the concept of "sport" covers the competitive activity itself, the process of preparation for achievements in it, as well as specific interpersonal relations and behavioral norms arising on the basis of this activity.
