Urban green spaces grabbed significant attention today as it offers a cost-effective technology in reducing pollution along with enhancing the aesthetic values of urban agglomerations. However, the existing urban green spaces experiences remarkable threats like encroachment due to developmental activities, fragmentations and isolation due to implementations of pipelines, roads and electrical wires which ultimately results in reduction of species habitats, negative impacts due to pollution, changes in responses and behaviour of pollinators, inappropriate management practices etc. Moreover, the incomplete awareness of public and the undervaluing of the ecosystem services by decision makers seem to be the major threatening factor of urban green spaces. In the present study, an attempt has been carried out to monitor the Atmospheric Pollution Tolerance Index of selected tree species pertaining to the outer belt of Swaraj round, Thrissur.
