In beginnings of modern science, lakes have fulfilled a focus of attention. Doubtless, this has something to do with the lure that water bodies hold for most of us. Urban areas development and the alteration of both aquatic and terrestrial habitat structure may be the most important factors in determining the composition and distribution of water bird communities. Urban aquatic environments, developers should use the general ecology of water birds. The preservation of undeveloped shoreline, preferably in larger contiguous patches, should therefore be considered in future lake development plans.
