Aqueous two-phase extraction (ATPE) is a purification technique where solid-liquid separation and enrichment can be achieved along with isolation and purification at initial scale of operation. ATPE involves the partitioning of the biomolecules between two immiscible phases in an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS). For the isolation of proteins, enzymes, viruses, cells, cell organelles and other biological materials ATPE can be used.
