When we got together to collectively produce our end-of-course work, from the outset we had the intention of producing, through photographic language, a material full of symbolic charge that could produce a unique experience for the reader with the image. Thus, the tarot emerged (remained and lingered) as the object of study for this experimental project. This book, as well as a report on the creative process of the photobook of the same name, is a study of the visual language of the tarot. Based on Didi-Hubermann's methodology for reading images, we remained open to the dialogues established with our repertoires and the different temporalities that emerge from these cards. We also carried out research into the narrative contained in the sequence of major arcana, looking for relationships with Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey, and into the origin of the esoteric symbols contained in the decks, in dialogue with Carl Jung's psychology. This is Arcanum's proposal, which goes througharchetypes and mythologies to recount, through the photographs produced, the delights and misadventures of the path of the major arcana and provoke the reader to set out on their own journey.
