This book is put together by the authors to meet the basic needs of users of ArcGIS software in schools and other institutions. The users range from trainees to trainers in the field of Environmental Sciences, Education, Health, Engineering, Agriculture, Research Institutes and in various fields where the knowledge of the software usage is highly essential. It was put together over a period of time that spans about six years taking care of the basic needs of the students over this period. It is believed that the user of the book can improve on the skills learnt from its repeated usage. The book looked into the various tools used in carrying out simple operations using the software and how such tools can be put into use. The steps demonstrated can be repeated as many times as possible until the user is fully familiar with the technical know-how of the tools. It is hoped that users will also give a feedback on issues that may arise from the use of this book in order to improve on the subsequent editions of the book.

He is with Federal School of Surveying, Oyo. A. A. Akinpelu is from Atiba Local Government of Oyo State. He is a Registered Surveyor. He teaches Surveying at LASPOTECH, Ikorodu, Lagos.
