Periodontitis is a bacterial infection characterized by an inflammation of the tissues that support the teeth, which results in destruction of the periodontal ligament and loss of the adjacent bone that supports the teeth. It is well known that there is a causal relationship between serum lipid levels and systemic health, particularly cardiovascular diseases. On the other hand, periodontitis- induced changes in immune cell function may cause metabolic dysregulation of lipid metabolism through a mechanism involving proinflammatory cytokines. This book describes about the study based on any causal relation between serum lipid levels and systemic health, particularly cardiovascular disease
