ARE WE NOT THE GODS is an anthology of works from 2011-2021 including spoken word, monologues and haiku's written both in and out of prison, on set, in parks and during stays at some of the lowest rated nuthouses on review sites. His love of the spoken word is reflected in the adversity to triumph pieces such as 'Are We Not The Gods' 'This is London' and 'Mighty Heart'. His comedic adventures into the nonsensical insanities of mental health, addiction and childhood trauma (yes, there's comedy in that) offers a poke at the darker side of a life spent in reactivity, farcical relationships and well spent prison sentences. 'Biscuits' for example is a protest at being carted around the mental ward (his words) for training purposes, always with the golden carrot of there being biscuits, upon arrival however, no biscuits are present, this is seemingly a conversation he wishes to open up to a wider audience (by wide, he means other mental ((again, his words)) inmates.) Covering all bases of the human condition and arriving at all manner of interpretations, Paul offers a new approach to dealing with trauma - laughing at it. But it's not all silly, many of Pauls poems are reflections on life, his explorative and emotionally intelligent glances at the human experience and attempts at working out what the hell is going on with himself, the planet and its people. The spoken word pieces are better said than read so stand up and shout them in your living room at the top of your voice to an audience of teddybears and short term boy/girlfriends if you want to have an awkwardly beautiful experience.
