He is most known for his work with Cass McCombs, Murs, We Are Scientists, Glasser, Theophilus London, and Plain White T s whose No.1, platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated single "Hey There Delilah" he produced. Rechtshaid is a former member of the pop-punk band The Hippos and a current member of the indie folk-rock group Foreign Born. Rechtshaid was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, a first generation American born to Israeli immigrants. Rechtshaid was enrolled at Hamilton High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
