Away from the classroom, he devotes much of his time to basketball. James holds two degrees from Northern Kentucky University: a BA in history and an MA in education. He is currently employed by the Covington Public Schools in northern Kentucky. His hobbies include reading, listening to music and occasionally singing at a local pub, cooking, and hiking.

I was born in Covington, Kentucky and have been an educator and basketball coach for 47 years. My mother instilled within me a deep appreciation of the beauty and majesty of the English language and inspired me to express my thoughts poetically. When I am away from the classroom and basketball court, I enjoy reading, listening to music, cooking, hiking, and occasionally singing at a local pub.
