When Robin Deering touches a map, she travels magically to that very spot. Sounds great, but the terra firma landings can be hard and sometimes injurious. On the other hand, water landings could drop her into the jaws of something ravenous. Almost always, an incidental touch of a map takes her to a place she never intended to go-much like her very unenchanted life after an out-of-the-blue divorce. Her return trips pull her onto the deck of her father's fishing boat, which is now parked in her ex-husband's garage. Awkward doesn't begin to describe this glitch in her inherited magic. When Robin accidentally touches a hand-drawn map with a plea for help, she lands in the Arabian Sea off the coast of India. From bejeweled water, she watches a young girl toss yet another bottled plea for help into the ocean. Curiosity over the girl's welfare entices Robin to return with a touch of the map, and a bond builds between Robin and the trafficked girl, Bimala. When the lives of Bimala and her young daughter are threatened, Robin must rescue the girl using her less-than-fabulous brand of magic or live with crushing regret.
