The first retrospective exhibition of the English artist Loraine Leeson will incorporate work from the mid 70’s to the present day. Loraine Leeson’s work has forged a combination of politics, issues of identity, art production, education and research. The exhibition will present projects that include The London - Berlin Series (1975), The East London Health Project (1978-81) and The Dockland Community Poster Project (1981 – 1991), within their social, political and personal context, highlighting the nature of the collaborations, political background and specifics of her working process.Die NGBK zeigt die erste monografische Ausstellung der englischen Künstlerin Loraine Leeson. Die gezeigte Auswahl umfasst ihr Werk von Mitte der 1970er Jahre bis heute. Loraine Leeson arbeitet in langfristigen kooperativen Projekten überwiegend in East London. Themenschwerpunkte in ihrer Arbeit sind u.a. Gentrifizierungsprozesse in den Docklands, Identitätspolitik, Repräsentation kultureller Diversität und Art Education. Kooperationspartner sind politische Arbeitsgruppen, Selbsthilfeinitiativen, kommunale Einrichtungen, Schulen und Museen. In der Ausstellung werden Werke wie das ‘London-Berlin Project’ von 1975, das ‘Dockland Community Poster Project’ (1981-91) und aktuelle Kooperationen in ihren jeweiligen politischen, sozialen und kulturellen Kontexten gezeigt.
