Advances in satellite technology have made it possible to use satellites to provide efficient and reliable communication to users across a wide geographical area. Modern communications satellites typically amplify many frequency carriers in a single amplifier. A study of satellite communication technologies and neural networks is made to understand the importance and features of both. Based on this study, a Neural Network approach is presented for modeling nonlinear memoryless communication channels in satellites. In particular, the approximation of the nonlinear characteristics of traveling-wave tube (TWT) amplifier used in satellite communication is studied and discussed.
