Gao Jinji, is an expert on equipment diagnosis and self-recovery engineering. He graduated from Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology in 1966 and received his doctorate in solid mechanics from Tsinghua University in 1993. From 1988 to 2001, he served as the deputy chief engineer of Liaoyang Petrochemical Company of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation). In 1988, he was selected as the national young and middle-aged science and technology expert with outstanding contributions. In 1999, he was elected as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has been a professor of BUCT (Beijing University of Chemical Technology) since 2001 and used to be the director of its academic committee. He established Beijing Key Laboratory of Health monitoring and Self-recovery of high-end mechanical equipment and Key Laboratory of Engine Health Monitoring and Networking of Ministry of Education. He used to be vice President of CSVE (Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering), chairman of Equipment Diagnosis Branch and vice President of CAPE (China Association of Plant Engineering). He has been a Fellow of ISEAM (The International Society of Engineering Asset Management) since 2008. He was appointed chairman of the Technical Experts Committee of China Industrial Internet Research Institute in 2019. In 1979, he took the lead in the development of applied equipment diagnosis technology in China, led the development of networked monitoring and diagnosis system for machine and pump groups, provided remote real-time monitoring and diagnosis for more than 5,000 units in more than 100 enterprises, avoiding more than 100 major accidents. In 2003, he proposed the principle of fault self-recovery for the first time in the international academic conference. He endowed machines with the self-recovery mechanism of humans and animals, expanded the research field of Bionics and Cybernetics, and was invited to give keynote speeches at international conferences. With the support of two key projects of the Natural Science Foundation and the 973 project of Ministry of Science and Technology, National Safety Basic Research Program 973 and 173 projects, he led the team to make important scientific and technological achievements in the research on the principle of Bionic Artificial Self-recovery and the autonomous health technology of turbo-machinery. He has published more than one hundred papers and two books including "Diagnosis and Treatment of Machine Fault and Self-recovery". In 2008, he was the President of the World engineering asset management and Intelligent maintenance conference, and in 2016, he was the President of the International Congress on Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic Engineering Management (COMADEM). In 2016, the International Engineering Asset Management Association (ISEAM) awarded the honorary title of "Lifetime Achievement Award in the world of advanced field of engineering asset management".
