Autorenporträt
In 1978 Waldo Schumaker wrote and "hunt and pecked" his family's history on a manual typewriter. He collected photos and illustrated 16 scenes to make these stories even more interesting. He made photocopies of his book for family members and relatives. The stories were so interesting that his son John Schumaker was encouraged to re-type the original into a word processor to make it more easily shared. John formatted the new book into chapters, added additional information about references in Waldo's work, and completed the history of Waldo and his family members who survived after Waldo's death. Waldo was a great artist and his drawings and letters from his World War II service in Germany were published in "World War II A Soldier's Sketch Book" by John Schumaker available at Lulu.com
