This collection shares sermons from his four main pastorates and his retirement. Claypool published thirteen books, many of which contained his sermons. However, while there is a historical context to each sermon based on past events, Claypool's sermons share insights about dealing with topics still present in today society: racism, poverty, nationalism, neighborliness, and the arms race.

Autorenporträt
J. Dwayne Howell is professor emeritus of Old Testament and Hebrew at Campbellsville University. He has also pastored in local Kentucky churches for over thirty years. Howell is a founding member of the Homiletics and Biblical Studies section of the Society of Biblical Literature and served as its first chair. He is also an active member of the Academy of Homiletics.
